Travel Plans 2018

In 2017 I did so much travel I almost burnt myself out (that feeling didn’t last for long of course).  When doing my travel round up I had to split it into two (rather long) posts to fit it all in.  It was the year I fell in love with the city break!  This year things are going to be a little different.  I am turning 30 in a few months time and I have decided to spend my little savings on travel.  This means that instead of lots of smaller trips like last year I will be doing two big ones.  Here’s how my plans are shaping up:

Disneyland California
I turn 30 on the 2nd of May and I have planned this trip so I will spend my birthday ignoring my grown up age and running around the original Disneyland.  We will only be spending three days in Anaheim, two days checking out the Disney parks and the last visiting Universal before we spend head to our next place...

San Francisco
We will have one travel day to make it to San Francisco then spend four days  squeezing is as much as possible.  Top of my list of things to do is to visit Alcatraz, have a tour of The Castro, see The Golden Gate Bridge and visit The Walt Disney Family Museum.

Japan
I have been desperate to visit Japan such a long time so I really hope we can pull this off.  Unlike California I've not really done much research on this one yet but sometime in Autumn my sister and I will be heading over to explore this amazing country.  We will definitely be hitting up Tokyo but haven’t really made a plan for where else to go yet, I’ve heard good things about Osaka, Kyoto and Mount Fuji as well as how emotional and historic Hiroshima is.  It’s going to take a lot of planning and I'm looking forward to working out the finer details in an online trip planner and I really can’t wait!

I have a couple of week day weddings this year so after these trips I will be out of holiday days until March 2019 (gulp) so that’s why I am not doing as much this year (well that and these trips leaving me skint!) .  My new job allows me to purchase upto five extra holiday days and I will be looking into that to see if I can squeeze in a couple of city breaks but to be honest I need the money so this may not happen.  If not I will be doing as many UK weekends trips as I can afford.

One crazy idea I am playing with is trying to get over to the US for the last ever Warp Tour, it’s been on my bucket list since I was a teenager but I’ve never been brave enough to head over and do it.  Now it has been announced that 2018 will be the last ever Warp Tour it’s my last chance so I’ve been doing some research to find a way to somehow get to the US, go to the festival and be back at my desk in one weekend without ending up in a ton of debt!  It’s crazy but I’ve been looking into it.

There are so many tempting offers online, Destination2 have some great offers for Bangkok that I'm already eyeing up for 2019 and there may be a family trip to Florida on the horizon. If you have any posts on Japan or Disneyland/San Francisco I’d love to read them.  What are your 2018 travel plans?
